***** COVID-19 Update. ****

I am so happy to let you all know that the lifesaving sessions will be returning on Friday 4th September.

After discussing the session timing with Pete Hardy, our chairman, we have a new time of 6:30 - 7:30 pm. We are hoping to add an extra 30 minutes when restrictions are lifted to allow for regular Dry Side Skills sessions.

As you may well know, DCLT have changed the arrangements for the use of the pool and changing room to provide as much COVID-19 security as possible. To that end, we need all swimmers to complete a survey of returning swimmers and a swimmer agreement to indicate that they are aware of the restrictions and agree to abide by them. Please note you need to complete both these even if you have completed the previous survey for the swimming club.

Some of the restrictions are:

  • swimmers have to attend the session already in their swimming kit (with something on top!).
  • swimmers will need to wait outside the centre and then will enter lane by lane.
  • once all swimmers are in the pool, the changing room is locked to allow the centre staff to clean it - this means that no latecomers will be allowed in!
  • the RLSS have suggested that we restrict the amount of contact that the swimmers have so, unfortunately, any towing and use of ropes and floats will not be allowed until the guidance changes

As the RLSS have restricted the activities that we can carry out, the sessions will focus on stamina and stroke technique until the guidance changes.

Please make sure you bring Hat, Goggles, Water Bottle & a Kickboard/Float to each session.

Please let me know if you need any more information and I will try my best to help. Please email me at armthorpe.lifesavers@gmail.com . Also, you can keep up to date with information on the club on our Facebook site Armthorpe Kingfishers Swimming Club or twitter feed (@ALifesavers).

We hope to see you all soon,

All the best,

Ian, Steve and Kirsty
