For Rookies and Survive & Save we follow the programmes developed by the Royal Lifesaving Society (RLSS) UK who are the leading provider for Water Safety education, rescue techniques and resuscitation. Rookie has been developed in conjunction with the Amateur Swimming Association to compliment the National Plan for Teaching Swimming.

Well done to the 19 Kingfishers Life Saving swimmers who attended tonight’s end of term fun session!

You were all absolutely amazing and a joy to work with! Have a lovely Christmas and a lovely rest. We’ll see you in the New Year

A big thank you to all our young Life Saving coaches who turn up every Friday night to coach our Rookie Lifeguards! We couldn’t manage without your fantastic commitment and contributions. You are all superstars and are very much appreciated!

Our Rookies are very lucky to have your support and guidance. Hopefully there are many future coaches in the making who are inspired by you to go on to become coaches themselves

A group of genuine superstars - we’re in safe hands with their expertise! Well done Maisy, Sofia, Lucy, Ava, Evan, Alex, Lucas, Esme and Rodger! Keep up the superness!!

Life Saving Report July 28th

All swimmers in Lane 4 of Armthorpe Kingfishers Swimming Club Life Saving section, passed their National Life Saving Academy Bronze Certificate in July 2023. This award was introduced in January 2023 as the entry level award required as a prerequisite before starting the first tier of a trio of awards, starting with the Bronze Star, then the Bronze Medallion and ultimately the Distinction Award. These awards can be accessed in three settings - a swimming pool, open water or beach.

The Bronze Certificate award has a Theory Section containing 36 questions across a range of topics, a practical Rescue Skills Section and a practical CPR/First Aid Section - all sections of the award must be completed at a competent level of performance to achieve a pass. Our swimmers will now move onto the Pool Bronze Star when the Club reopens after the summer break on 18th August.

Well done to:

Ava, Lucy, Lucas, Evan, Alex, Esme, Maisy, Sofia and Rodger.

Mary
