Hello everyone! Mindful of the warm weather, please take some time to watch this short video from RNLI, which offers advice on how to float.
So very grateful to all our life saving instructors and Young Volunteers who continue to impress, week after week, with their commitment and skills. Tonight was a whirlwind, so I didn’t get to thank some of them personally - they are a truly wonderful group of people, and I didn’t want them to think I hadn’t noticed!
Four sessions remain until the summer break on Friday 25th July - we return on Friday 15th August.
A HUGE WELL DONE, to our Lane 1 Life Saving group, tonight! All have passed their Rookie Bronze 3 Award with flying colours and are ready to move onto Rookie Silver 1 next week!
Well done to Molly, Mollie, Nancy, Emily, Ruby, William, Alice and Kaleb!
John was on a school residential tonight so he will be assessed for his award next week.
The progress made by our “no longer newbies” since mid January has been amazing, and they can be very proud of their achievements!

This simple poster explains how it works, for anyone still considering signing up.
Hello everyone!
Just an update… well done Lane 3, which had 100% attendance on 13/6/25
Lane 1 will do their Rookie Bronze 3 assessments on Friday 20/6, completing on Friday 27/6. Please remember goggles and tops/bottoms to wear. They will be removing their clothing near the end of the session, so please make sure that they are happy with whatever swimwear they have underneath
Well done to Emily and Mollie (Lane 1) on achieving 100% attendance over the last eight sessions.
Just six more sessions to go before the summer break. The last Life Saving session will be Friday 25/7/25. The first session back after the break will be Friday 15/8/25.
A HUGE thank you to all our Instructors for their continued commitment to coaching - what an amazing group of people they truly are Well done also to Rodger, Lucy, Esme and Evan for their brilliant contributions to our sessions - absolutely OUTSTANDING!
Please make sure that your swimmer/s bring drinks - especially given the warm weather.
Finally - please let Lee know if you would like your child/ren to attend the Hatfield Water Park visit on Sunday 10/8/25 at 2.00pm (see earlier post).
See you Friday

A HUGE well done to our volunteers at our Life Saving Club who, over recent weeks, have been involved in adding to their qualifications by attending RLSS training courses and taking qualifications. We are SO proud of the efforts, commitment and achievements of our trainee instructors at the club who will, by the summer break have completed their probationary period and will hold the full NLA Instructor qualification in addition to those they currently hold.
There are photos posted here, of today’s full day course.
Many, many thanks are extended to Ian and Andrew, who got us safely to Manvers Lake and back, and also to Kim, of Manvers, for her wonderful commitment and support of our club and for leading today’s training. Special thanks again, to Ian who gave up his Sunday to support us on our course.
An amazing group of volunteers of whom the club is, justifiably, very proud.

Thank you to all families who, week after week, bring your children on Friday evenings to their life saving session. Their progress is solid and many have more regular attendance. Fourteen swimmers have 100% attendance so far - let’s keep this going! For those who have had absences… there are ten more sessions - aim for 100% in those!
I am aware that some of our swimmers are involved in other activities, which sometimes clash with our Friday sessions - eg Scouts, dance exams and other valuable and important commitments. This, inevitably has an impact on their attendance. If this applies to you, as a family, just let us know so that we can, firstly, praise your swimmer for their involvement and, secondly, value their commitment.
A special well done to Kaleb, Lane 1, who has achieved his Rookie Bronze 2 Award!
… and to Evan, one of our Young Volunteers who was presented with his NLA Bronze Medallion Award on Friday. Evan’s photo, along with the those of the other recipients, is on the Life Saving page of the Armthorpe Kingfishers website.
Well done, also, to our volunteers: Thomas, Sandra, Ella, Georgia and Andrew, who have achieved the RLSS Life Support 3 Award, and who will build further on their qualifications during a special full day course next Sunday.
See you Friday!
Mary
Congratulations Lane 1 and well done on achieving Rookie Bronze Award 2!
