Meet Kingsley Bear – The Heart of Kingfishers Swimming Club
Every great club needs a hero, and at Kingfishers Swimming Club, we’re proud to have Kingsley Bear as our beloved mascot!
Kingsley isn’t just any bear—he’s a symbol of courage, teamwork, and the love of the water. Here’s his story:
Hello my fin-tastic friends! It’s your favourite furry supporter, Kingsley the Bear, here to remind you that our big Schofields Competition is just around the corner — Sunday, 16th November! I can’t wait to see all our amazing swimmers, from our newest members to our seasoned racers, coming together to show off those Kingfisher skills. Make sure your swim bags are packed the night before — goggles, caps, snacks, and of course, your biggest smiles! Remember, the most important thing is to do your best, cheer for your teammates, and have a splash-tastic time representing our wonderful club.
Families and friends, we couldn’t do it without you! Your cheers from the gallery make every swimmer feel like a champion, and your support keeps the Kingfisher spirit soaring. Let’s fill the poolside with positive energy, loud encouragement, and plenty of club pride. I’ll be there, paws at the ready, to celebrate every effort and every race — whether it’s a personal best or a brave first attempt. Together, let’s make the Schofields Competition a day full of fun, teamwork, and golden memories. Go Kingfishers! 💛💙
Kingsley
Roar-tastic news, Kingfishers! It’s me, Kingsley Bear, and I just couldn’t wait to share how incredibly proud I am of all you young swimmers at Armthorpe Kingfishers Swimming Club. You didn’t just dive in—you sprinted your way to the top at the September Sprints MET at John Charles Centre in Leeds! Watching you slice through the water with such speed, determination, and style had me cheering so loudly I almost shook my bear-sized pom-poms right off!
Every stroke, turn, and finish was a testament to your hard work and dedication. You trained, you persevered, and you believed in yourselves—and it paid off in spades! Being crowned at the top is no small feat, and each of you has shown that with teamwork, focus, and a splash of Kingfishers’ spirit, anything is possible. I could see the sparkle in your eyes as you touched that wall first, and it filled my bear-heart with pride.
So here’s a huge bear-sized congratulations from me, Kingsley! Celebrate your victories, cherish the memories, and remember: this is just the start of many more amazing swims to come. Keep pushing, keep splashing, and keep being the incredible Kingfishers you are. The water may be wide, but with your courage and talent, there’s no limit to how far you can go!
The Legend of Kingsley Bear
Long ago, in a magical forest near the shimmering Kingfisher Lake, lived Kingsley, a kind and adventurous bear with a passion for exploring the water. While most bears were content splashing along the shoreline, Kingsley was different. He loved swimming. From sunrise to sunset, he would glide through the lake’s clear waters, perfecting his strokes and learning to dive deeper than anyone had ever dared.
But Kingsley’s adventures weren’t just about fun. He had a big heart and often helped his forest friends when they found themselves in trouble. If a bird fell into the water or a little squirrel got too close to the lake’s edge, Kingsley was always there to lend a paw and bring them to safety. His bravery, kindness, and swimming skills quickly became legendary.
Kingsley Meets the Kingfishers
One sunny morning, Kingsley noticed a group of children laughing and splashing at the edge of the lake. They were eager to learn to swim but felt nervous about the water. Kingsley watched quietly for a moment and then decided to introduce himself.
With a warm smile and a splash (he loved to make an entrance), Kingsley began to show the children how to swim safely and confidently. He taught them how to float like leaves, paddle with strong paws, and dive like kingfishers—the little blue birds that zipped across the lake. Before long, the children’s nerves turned into excitement, and they became confident swimmers thanks to Kingsley’s encouragement.
Seeing how much Kingsley inspired the children, the adults invited him to become part of their swimming club. “We’ll call ourselves Armthorpe Kingfishers, in honour of the beautiful birds of the lake—and you, Kingsley Bear, can be our mascot!” they said. Kingsley’s heart swelled with pride, and he gave a big bear hug to his new friends.
